The Month of the Precious Blood

July is the month the Church dedicates to the Precious Blood of Jesus, a powerful reminder of the love that was poured out for us and for the whole world.

As Pope St. John XXIII said, “Devotion to the Precious Blood is the devotion of our time... for all souls, for the whole world.”

But what does that devotion look like for us today?

It means remembering the price Jesus paid for our redemption, especially during Mass and Eucharistic Adoration.

It means praying the Litany of the Precious Blood, meditating on His sacrifice, and offering up small sacrifices, acts of love or discomfort, for the healing and salvation of others.

As I write this, I’m reflecting on what those small sacrifices could be.

Maybe it’s choosing silence over gossip.

Maybe it’s offering up our frustrations instead of complaining.

Maybe it’s skipping something we enjoy and instead saying a prayer for someone who is hurting.

These little offerings, when united with Christ’s Precious Blood, carry eternal value.

Personally, I often find myself saying: “May the Blood of Jesus Christ protect me.”

Especially in moments of fear, on airplanes, during runs, or just walking alone. I pray this with trust. It gives me peace. It reminds me that I’m not alone. That His Blood was not just shed it still protects, heals, and covers us.

🩸 Devotion isn’t abstract. It’s deeply personal, deeply present, and deeply powerful.
