S13 Day 16 - Luminous Mysteries in Petition
Hello family, and welcome to Day 16 of our 54-Day Rosary Novena. I’m your host, Maritza Mendez, and I’m so grateful you’re here with us again today.
This season, we continue praying for peace in the world,
and for freedom from addictions, for those who are struggling, for those in recovery, and for the families and friends who walk beside them with love and hope.
We’re also praying for the intentions you carry in your heart.
And if you’d like us to pray for you, you can submit your intention at 54daysofroses.com.
Today we reflect on something many of us struggle with: forgiving ourselves.
It’s often easier to forgive someone else than to forgive our own mistakes. We replay our failures. We judge ourselves harshly. We hold onto guilt long after God has already offered us mercy.
But here’s the truth: Healing cannot fully begin until we allow ourselves to receive God’s forgiveness.
Sometimes we stay stuck in shame because we believe we “should’ve known better,”or “should’ve done better.” But God sees your heart. He sees the battles you’ve fought, the wounds you carry, and the effort you’re making today.
Self-forgiveness doesn’t mean pretending nothing happened. It means allowing God to redeem the past, and choosing to move forward with humility instead of self-punishment.
If you’re carrying regret, guilt, or disappointment in yourself…bring it to Jesus. He doesn’t push you away. He doesn’t say, “You should’ve been better.” He says: “Come to Me.”
Our Blessed Mother also teaches us tenderness. She never shames us. She holds us, leads us back to her Son, and whispers that God’s mercy is bigger than our mistakes.
So today, let this be our prayer: Lord, help me forgive myself. Help me receive Your mercy, and give me the grace to move forward with peace and humility. Mary, hold my heart and help me let go of shame.
If you are keeping up with your journal, take a moment to write this down today: What guilt or regret am I still holding onto, and what would it look like to release it to God?
Let's get started.
Blessed Mother, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, today we lift up every heart struggling with regret, shame, or self-criticism. Cover each person with your tenderness, and teach them to welcome the mercy of God.
