S13 Day 2 - Sorrowful Mysteries in Petition
Hello family, welcome to day 2 of our 54-Day Rosary Novena.
Thank you for being here again today. Every time you show up in prayer, even on the days when it feels hard, grace is working. God sees your desire to be here.
This season we continue praying for peace in the world, and for freedom from addictions. And remember, addiction doesn’t only look like alcohol or drugs. It can be the need for control… approval… comfort… comparison… scrolling on our phones, busyness, fear, or even negative thinking. Anything we turn to before turning to God can slowly become a chain.
But the Lord doesn’t reveal these things to shame us, He reveals them to free us.
So today is about awareness and surrender. Simply noticing. Saying, “Lord, help me see where I run instead of running to You.” And then offering it, gently.
I want to encourage you to keep a journal during this novena. Write down what comes up in your heart. What God is showing you. The moments of heaviness and the moments of grace. Sometimes healing begins when we simply name what we’ve been carrying.
And today, we also remember Saint Martin de Porres, a beautiful example of humility and compassion. He is the patron saint of African Americans, barbers, hairdressers, radio, race relations, and social justice. His life reminds us that holiness often begins in quiet service and a humble, surrendered heart.
So as we pray today, we simply say:
“Jesus, help me see.
Jesus, I surrender this to You.
Mary, stay with me.”
And for your journal today, reflect on this gentle question: What am I turning to for comfort before turning to God? Just notice, write it down, offer it.
Now, let us begin
